Maybe because I do not have patience for that. I waited a lot when in NY going to school for buses and the subway but at least there if you are impatient and willing you can start walking and usually get where you want to go. Lines in grocery stores or even department stores are funny. Sometimes it's a quiet line, sometimes it's a chatty line, or it's the line where one person addresses the rest of the line firsthand manages the chit chat...sort of the line leader if you know what I mean.
