What fascinated me about this show was the idea that most of us go on holidays to escape...but the problem is, we take one bit of baggage with us....ourselves. The main thing I remember from my holidays abroad are not necessarily the monuments or art galleries but the people I met on buses or through www.couchsurfing.com. So I love your idea of making friends with strangers! i think you just need to be in the right frame of mind and have an open heart.
